My First Week on Juice Plus

My First Week on Juice Plus
Source

I decided to do Juice Plus which is another diet that promises fast results when it comes to weightloss. I thought it would be harder than it was but it was much easier to replace 2 meals a day with juice plus shakes and I felt as though I was eating more due to the fact I was having my 2 shakes, 4 snacks and a main meal as well.
Dont get me wrong, there were a few days I felt like getting a McDonald's (im just a burger n fries kinda gal, hence the reason I am 18st) but I reminded myself that I was not hungry, I was just being greedy!

I wanted to write down what I was eating every day but I forgot. Im new to blogging to recording every meal I have is quite alien to be at the moment, hence the forgetfulness. I promise, I will get better at this.

Having my mum be my rep was really good as I could just call her or pop round for inspiration but what I really loved was her inspirational pictures and quotes on instagram which really spurred me on. She also invited me to a facebook group where we can all chat about our progress so far which has been really helpful.

My weigh in days are Wednesdays and today I weighed 17.13 which was a total weight loss of 4lbs. The little blemishes on my chin have cleared up and I have a lot more energy (I am anaemic so I am always fatigued). After my first week going so well I have decided to continue on this journey until my pouches run out but to be honest, I don’t know how this could be maintained as I imagine it would get tough on nights out etc. if you wanna have a drink with friends.

Did you see my previous post? Its a DIY facemask using household ingredients.

Hydraluron Moisture Booster by Indeed Labs

I bought the Indeed Labs Hydraluron Serum (£24.99) on the recommendation of Caroline Hirons as she is thee most influential skincare specialist. I read her blog religiously as I am desperate for the knowledge and I love her blunt attitude but I have to say, I am beyond excited about her new YouTube channel.

My skin has been acting up recently, I normally have oily skin but it been very dry and sometimes sore if I am being 100% honest. So when I read Carolines recommendation, I went along to my local Boots and picked up a tube. At £24.99, it is a pricey little bugger so I really hoped it would work.

Hydraluron contains Hyaluronic Acid which is a hydrating agent that can reach the deep skin layers to boost the skin's ability to moisture itself as well as minimizing the appearance of deep wrinkles. It also contains Red Marin Algae which increases elasticity, smoothness, cell turnover & firmness.

Over the last month I have been using this in the AM and PM, as I wanted to give myself the proper time to use it and experience it before jumping in with a review. One thing ive noticed is a reduction in the little dry patches on my chin, jawline and cheeks so that is a huge plus for me but I have to say, for the price I expected my skin to look and feel better than it did at the end of the 4 week trial. I was expecting it to look healthier and glowing but it didn’t.

I normally use this product after I have cleansed my face with Emma Hardie Cleansing Balm (£38), I then use my Garnier Pure Active Toner (£2.75), apply Hydraluron and then my Nivea Crème Moisturiser (99p) to lock everything in.

The product states it is a serum which penetrates the skins surface and provides long-lasting hydration from beneath. I don’t get that. As I said, I have noticed the little dry patches have disappeared but without a heavy duty moisturiser that infuses more hydration, I don’t think this would be the wonder serum it’s portrayed to be.

DIY Beauty | Coffee and Chocolate Facemask

Homemade Coffee and Chocolate Facemask
Source

Well seen as my final exams are in 3 weeks, I decided to spend yesterday pampering myself instead of studying.  I know this doesn’t sound like a very sensible thing to do but I really needed to get my head out of the books and give myself some love and attention before I went mad!

I started off with a lovely relaxing bath with a lot of bubbles and a lot of candles which were cranberry scented, they were divine. I then poured myself a lovely glass of red wine and grabbed my copy of The Missing by Chris Mooney before settling into my bath.

Once I finished my bath, which was amazing by the way, I then decided to make up a little homemade face mask and apply it to my skin. As I was in the bath, I got a bit of a steam facial due to the hot water so it was a shame to let all that good work go to waste so whacking on a face mask was the next logical step in my pamper day.

I like to make my own face masks sometimes using whatever I have in the fridge and cupboard so today I decided on a coffee and chocolate mask to help my skin out. The ingredients I used are as follows:
  •     2 tbsp coffee granules
  •     2 tbsp pure cocoa powder
  •     2 tbsp olive oil (extra virgin or cold pressed if possible)
  •     1 tbsp honey (manuka or lavender is best)

Benefits
Coffee – Reduces inflammation and redness, and the appearance of under eye circles. Used as an exfoliator it removes dead skin and wakes up a tired complexion.
Cocoa Powder – This is a good source of antioxidants. It repairs damage due to environmental pollutants and free radicals. Great for fighting acne.
Olive Oil - Rich in antioxidants and provides intense moisturise.
Honey – Honey has antibacterial properties, which helps in fighting acne and pimples. Honey reduces infection and is very effective home remedy to treat acne. It also soak ups impurities from the pores of the skin, leaving your skin clear and clean. It is a very effective moisturiser for skin. It retains moisture making your skin radiant, soft and supple.

Method:
Add ground coffee to a small container and crush some of the coffee granules with the back of a spoon to give it a smoother finish. Don’t worry if there are lumps left in the coffee, you want a mixture of granules and powder so that it isn’t too harsh for the skin. Add in the olive oil, honey and cocoa powder and mix until it resembles a paste. if you require more liquid, add in a little more oil to get it to the correct consistency. Don’t add too much oil as this will cause it to run down your face and neck. Once the mixture is made, layer it on your face with a makeup brush that you aren’t using and leave for 15 minutes. When removing, work in circular motions to exfoliate the skin and wash off with lukewarm water.

As soon as I removed my facemask I went ahead and put on my serums and moisturisers just to finish off the job. I really did enjoy myself yesterday and today, my skin feels and looks amazing. It looks hydrated and feels super soft.

Have a go, let me know what you think of this mask.
