Summer Dreamin | My Ultimate Summer Getaway & Beach Essentials

Santorini

Hi guys,

I always struggle with trying to find somewhere to holiday, its just something that takes both Liam and I hours to do as we want to get certain experiences, have a quiet resort and find some great museums, restaurants etc. so we take it very seriously but Santorini, Greece has always been thee Number 1 destination. We never book it as its too expensive for us at the moment but one day folks, I will be sunning myself on one of those little balconies just loving life. Santorini just looks like heaven doesnt it? Ever since the days of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants when Lena (Alexis Bledel) visits Greece, I have been obsessed with going there as the ocean looks clear, the sky is the bluest blue and the caves look so romantic. I know a few people who have holidayed there and said it is out of this world and one of my good friends is getting married there next year so I need to get a move on and book it so I can experience all this Greek greatness.

There is honestly nothing better than going on holiday is there, well that’s my opinion and im sticking to it! You can have as much sun as you want here (maybe not Scotland) but nothing beats the atmosphere, the food, the drinks, the hotels, the pools and lastly the beaches. I love it all. Everyone is so happy on holiday too, another reason I love going abroad as it all starts in the airport when everyone is having their breakfast with the obligatory pint/wine with a huge smile on their face as they know they are going to be spending 7-14 days away from the struggles of life just chilling out poolside with copious amounts of cold drinks, books and more importantly, peace!

For me though it’s all about the beach as I find being by the sea very calming. I hate the sand but I love the beach and I don’t go into the sea as I am terrified of it, but I love lying on my sun lounger just listening to everyone, the sound of the ocean and the smell of sun screen in the air ha-ha. It’s my ultimate chill out experience. Imagine being scared of the sea and hating sand but finding the beach calming haha, I am a weird child arent I? When I do go to the beach, I like to have certain items with me at all times to make it even more enjoyable. The first thing is obviously a cute swimsuit, I prefer a black one piece as I am a bigger lady and don’t want anything falling out. Two that have caught my eye recently is the ASOS Multiway Swimsuit (£35) and the Seafolly Block Party Diamond Splice Swimsuit (£89). I especially love the multiway one as you can switch it up so it looks like different designs rather than a boring black swimsuit. I also need me some sunglasses to protect my eyes and my Rayban Club Masters (£125) are perfect as they are stylish as well as practical.

Beach Essentials

Thirdly, you know we need some protection from the sun and my all-time favourite is the Garnier Ambre Solaire Oil SPF 20 (£7.50). In my opinion, It is the best on the market as it has advanced UVA/UVB protection, is non greasy (don’t put on a lot or it will be), its water resistant and keeps your skin feeling nourished thanks to the Shea Butter. I love using this because of the fragrance but I personally feel as though it gives more of a golden looking tan.

Lastly a bottle of water and a good book. How can you go to the beach without a book?? Water is an absolute must have, I always buy a bottle from one of the nearby shops and then constantly fill up during the day as the sun takes a lot out of you and due to you sweating more, you need to replenish what you have lost. Reading is as natural as breathing for me ha-ha, as you can see from What I Read This Summer post, I tend to read a lot on holiday so I make sure my kindle is fully charged and take a paperback too just in case anything happens. One book that I really want to read is Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn (from 1p). She is a genius when it comes to writing, she really grabs your attention from the first page and before you know it, you’re hooked. I read Gone Girl and Dark Places last year and they instantly went into my top 10 all-time favourites so no doubt, this will probably be the same.

Fingers crossed I get a holiday this year but if not there is always next year :) What about you, have you any holidays planned? If you are like me and cant decide then check out Home Away as they are great inspiration. They have sections for couples, families, outdoor space for all the fun loving types out there as well as pet friendly resorts.

Soap & Glory Shower Jellys | Clean On Me and Sugar Crush

Soap & Glory Shower Jellys

Soap & Glory Shower Jellys

Soap & Glory Clean On Me and Sugar Crush

Hi guys,

I love Soap and Glory as much as the next person but I get uncontrollably excited when I see new releases as I know they are going to be amazing.

If you love the Sugar Crush scent as much as I do then you are going to love this shower jelly in the same scent as it does not disappoint. I actually find myself just sniffing the body wash when I am lying in the bath or having a quick whiff of the body butter that sits beside my bed every time I need a quick fix so having this shower jelly perched up in my shower keeps the addiction going strong ha-ha. Anyway, enough about my extra-curricular activities and more about these products. There are only two scents in the Soap and Glory Shower Jelly Range (£5.50) which is, yes you guessed it, Sugar Crush and the original g, Clean On Me.

These jellys are exactly that when it comes to the texture. They are quite thick and you have to squeeze the tube firmly to get a decent amount out. I lather this into my skin and rub until it becomes creamy which I then wash off. The only issue I have is the product is very slippery and half of it falls off my hands before ive even applied it to my body so you need to work quickly. I have started to rub between my hands first and then apply to body but its still the same tbh.

The scents on both of them are quite strong so your bathroom/shower room fills up quite quickly with the girly aromas. Liam has completely fallen in love with the Sugar Crush one and has almost used an entire tube by himself so if you have a boyfriend/husband who likes to use up your products, I would hide these as they will be gone in a week!

The packaging and coloured gel is fun, cute and nothing short of what we have come to expect from S & G products. They leave my skin smelling amazing, feeling soft and summery, especially Sugar Crush. For £5.50 each, I don’t think it’s a ridiculous price but I suppose you could always buy Original Source which is equally amazing but for a little extra, why not treat yourself to these, especially Sugar Crush as it is a stand-alone scent.

All in all, they are fabulous, I highly recommend.

Quick Fix Facials

Hi guys,

As you know, I am a bit of a skincare addict. I am constantly on the prowl for some miracle product that will help to fade scars and control blemishes. I don’t suffer too badly with blemishes but I do suffer from hormonal acne and I hate it! I hate the cysts along my jawline and the odd spot on my chin so I need something that will help sooth it and calm the redness. These products are some of the miracle products that I use once a week to help so I thought I would share them with you.

After a Lush bath when I am all nice and clean and relaxed, I slip into my pyjamas, apply a hair mask and tie my hair out my face and prepare to be pampered. I normally double cleanse when I intend to host a pamper session on my face and recently I have been using the Soap and Glory Peaches & Cream Deep Cleansing Milk (£8) and removing with a damp face cloth. This is so soft and creamy, it’s like liquid velvet on your skin. It removes makeup easily (maybe not waterproof mascara) and starts the process of leaving soft skin behind.

I then go straight in with the Peter Thomas Roth Firm X Firming Gel (£32.25), I use a 10p size amount of this and buff into my cleansed skin for a good 5 minutes or so to give me a mini facial as well as removing dead skin. This is quite slimy and you feel the dead skin come away from your face which isn’t the best feeling in the world but trust me, your skin will thank you afterwards. I then wash off, being careful not to get any in my eyes, with lukewarm water until all has been removed. This product is fab, it gets to work instantly and you really do notice a difference afterwards. I am wary of this round my nostrils as the skin is very delicate and if over cleansed then it starts to get quite dry and flaky, that may not be the same with everyone but it happens to me so I only go over this area once with the gel without being too harsh.

Once removed, I pat dry my face and apply a decent amount of Quick Fix Facial Purifying Charcoal Mask (£4.99). This is a great mask. After my first use, I noticed my blackheads on my nose had faded really well and my skin looked clearer. I don’t believe any product when it says it removes blackheads etc but to fade them as well as this mask did, I’m in! We have all heard of active charcoal by now but for those who haven’t, it is rich in minerals, helps clear pores and frees skin of toxins and impurities. This mask also has dragon fruit which is a great source of vitamin C, this helps to moisturise and promote healthy skin. As if that’s not enough, it contains cinnamon extract which is a reputed antiseptic which helps clarify skin. I leave this on for around 15 minutes so its fully dried, I then use a face sponge to gently remove.

After I remove this mask, I like to pat dry before applying the Sanctuary 5 minute Peel Off-Mask (£10). I generously apply this, leave on for 5 – 10 minutes and then peel off. Its as simple as that! I really like this mask and I love using it after a purifying mask as I feel it gets the remaining dirt etc from your skin. I love how healthy my skin looks after using this too, it literally glows and I`m all about that glow. I normally have to rinse my face again as there is normally a little bit of the mask left over.

While I let my skin return to its normal PH (around 30 minutes or so), I like to scrub my lips using Lush Mint Julips Lip Scrub (£5.50). I really take my time with this, so I work in a small amount and rub gently for 5 minutes. I wash off and then do it again as my lips are quite sturdy and need a second helping. I then apply some Nivea Lip Butter (£2.25) as it’s the best possible lip product on the market and it seeps in beautifully to keep my lips hydrated and plump.

Once the 30 minutes is up, I apply Peter Thomas Roth Glycolic Acid 10% Toning Complex (£25) using a cotton pad all over my face, once in an upward motion and then again in a downward motion making sure to avoid the eyes and mouth. I have been using this for a while and I have a review which you can find here but this is amazing as it breaths new life into dull and congested skin without being too harsh. I did notice that my skin was becoming very dry with this but I figured out I wasn’t using it properly and have stuck to using it once a week which has been great. I adore using this as it leaves my skin feeling luminous and ultra soft.

Once this has dried in, I apply a pea sized amount of Nivea Crème (95p) all over my face to lock everything in and to give me instant hydration. If I have a breakout, I apply a small amount of Mario Badescu Drying Lotion (£16) with a cotton bud by dotting over the blemishes to dry them out. It is really important that you do not shake the bottle as you do not want the mixture to combine, it is supposed to stay separate so the cotton bud becomes submerged in both parts in equal measures.

Once I have taken care of my face, I normally chill out with some moisturising socks, a glass of low alcohol wine and a book which has been accountancy material recently due to exams but now it is going to be all kinds now that I am free!!

That’s what I have been doing for a few months now once per week and I love it. I really look forward to doing it and make sure I set enough time by to be thorough. My skin is very soft, lost its dullness and my blackheads have considerably reduced from my nose which is great.

What would you recommend for the ultimate pamper night?

Instagram Skincare Favourites

Skincare

Hi Guys,

How are we all? I have been going crazy as my exams start on Monday and even though I feel prepared I also feel as though I could be studying more (im already studying from 8am to 5pm everyday!) but I decided to step back and do a little blogpost centred around my favourite drool worthy skincare bloggers. Seriously, I have to stop myself liking so many of their photos as I don’t want them thinking I am some kind of stalker on a liking spree. So instead, I decided to do a blog post haha, a lot less stalker like eh?

I`m not going to go into details as its literally talking about pictures but I will leave links and some photos below so you can see the beauty I am talking about. All links take you straight to their IG pages which list their blogs if you wanna have a look. Today, its only about Instagram.

So, that’s my four favourites that I am obsessed with. I`m sure you will agree that their photography skills are great and the products they are using look delicious! I know you might expect Caroline Hirons to show up on this list but I prefer her blog to her IG as it’s all about skincare rather than a mixture of real life, events, makeup, selfies etc. Not that there is anything wrong with that by the way, its just my personal preference. My IG is no oil painting! haha.

Do you have Instagram favourites, if so who are they?
