The Lip Product Tag

The Lip Product Tag

Hey guys,

I was recently tagged by the adorable Alina over at Beauty With Charm which is one of my all time favourite blogs to carry out the lip product tag. Have a look at her answers to see what she chose. As you know I am a total lip junkie and I honestly can’t go into Boots, a supermarket or Superdrug without buying some sort of lip product whether it be a butter, balm, liner, lipstick, gloss etc. so I am very excited for this one!

1. Favourite Lip Balm or Treatment:
I have tried numerous lip balms over the past 20 years but i have to say the best one i have ever used is Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream (£24.99). I get the most intense hydration from this and I feel it goes deeper than a normal lip treatment.

2. Best Eye Catching Red:
I think i have to go with Mac Ruby Woo (£15.50). Its such a beautiful shade and every time I wear it I get so many compliments. I feel everyone suits this shade as it suits so many different skin tones.

3. Best Luxury and Best Drugstore Lip Product:
My favourite has to be my Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick (£15.50) in Native which is the creamiest, pigmented and hydrating shade in my collection, i just love it. My favourite drugstore product at the moment has to be the Rimmel Apocalips Matte Velvets (£6.49).

4. Best MAC lip product:
I have to say Mac Angel(£15.50) as its a beautiful neutral shade which can be worn all year round and suits so many skin tones. I could have listed my favourites all day long but this is my most worn from Mac so i will stick with it.

5. Most Disappointing Lip Product:
I have to say the most disappointing lip product for me was the YSL Rouge Pur Couture Golden Lustre (£26) in shade 109. There wasn’t much colour to this and it didn’t last well. Very expensive product to give a wash of colour to the lips.

6. Lip Liner, yes or no?
I would say yes, especially when it comes to wearing dark lips or a red lip. I like to have a line there to guide me when I apply lipstick.

7. Favourite Gloss:
I love the Sleek Glosses at the moment. The lasting power is impressive for a gloss and the pigmentation is great.

And that's all folks. I loved doing this tag but it made me want to buy more lippies!!! Ahhh, when will it stop?? Ha-ha. I tag everyone to do this tag as it was so fun for a lip addict such as myself so i know hundreds of bloggers will find this just as fun as me.

Top Ten Beauty Tag

Top 10 Beauty Tag - Beauty Talk With Lauren
Source

Hi guys,

I was tagged to do this Top 10 post by the beautiful Renata who runs one of my favourite beauty blogs Speaking Beauty UK. I love tags and I know it’s been tag after tag on my blog recently but what can I say, I just love em!

So moving onto the tag itself we will start with....

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation

Foundation:
My Favourite foundation has to be the Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation (£9.99). It is very similar to Chanel Vitalumiere (£33) but for a much lower price tag. I love the finish this gives as it leaves me with dewy skin but it covers any imperfections. It blends beautifully too with either a brush or sponge. Its very lightweight which is perfect for the summer months.

Maybelline and Mac

Concealer:
I actually can’t live without concealer and I am currently loving two at the moment. One is the Maybelline Eye Eraser (£5.99) and the second is the Mac Prolongwear Concealer (£17.50). I wear these on a daily basis and I get the best coverage with them and they help to cover my dark circles perfectly.

Makeup Rumours

Powder:
I have been loving my Makeup Rumours Nude Powder as it works a treat. It doesn’t leave my skin looking cakey but it adds another layer to give a flawless picture perfect finish. The best thing is the fact that it cost £1 but gives the finish of a £20 powder.

MAC Blusher

Blush:
This is my favourite part of makeup as it just injects life back into the face. I love all of my blushers but I have to say Immortal Flower by Mac (£15) as it stands head and shoulders above the rest of them. This is a gorgeous apricot shade which gives a gorgeous English Rose effect.

Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel

Bronzer:
My favourite bronzer has to be my Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel (£32) base as it works well on my pale skin without coming off too orange. I like that it’s a cream blend meaning i can work into the skin and then set with a powder without it looking too harsh.

Laura Mercier Baked Radiance Highlighter

Highlighter:
Laura Mercier Baked Radiance Highlighter (£27) in 01 gives off the perfect amount of sheen and makes my face look positively glowing.

Falsies

Mascara:
No surprises here but it has to be my Maybelline Falsies (£7.99). This is quite a wet formula which I love and it dispenses the perfect amount of product to my eyelashes without over doing it. I love the rich black colour of it and also the fact it adds volume and length.

Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette

Eyeshadow:
My favourite eyeshadow in my collection is my Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette (£38), I just love the subtlety of the colours and find they all compliment my eyes without being too crazy.

Eyebrows

Eyebrow Pencil

Brow:
I use a 99p wax pencil that I bought years ago and then fill in with a powder from my eyeshadows but I swear this little guy has never let me down. I honestly can’t remember where I picked it up but I just love him and his leopard print design, please appreciate the tackiness of this beauty!

Lipsticks

Lipglosses

Lip Products:
I honestly cannot pick one lip product I love far too many so I will just let the picture do the talking. If I had to only pick one brand to have forever it would probably be MAC as they have the perfect shade for everyone and the finishes are sublime as they have so many to choose from.

I tag everyone to do this so leave me your links in the comments below and I will check out your answers guys!

First Impressions | The Bakewell Soap Company

The Bakewell Soap Company - Beauty Talk With Lauren

The Bakewell Soap Company

Potato Soaps

Hey guys,

The Bakewell Soap Company* contacted me recently to ask if I wanted to sample their new product which is called Soaptatoes. How cute is that?! The company are based in Derbyshire, UK and they deal with all things skincare including Lip Care, Body ButtersEye CareSoaps and Foot Care.

I don’t know about you but I hadn't heard of this company before so I instantly checked out their website to find out more about them. I was pleased to find out they don’t test on animals and all products are cruelty free and natural. Considering the amount of awards they have won, I was also surprised that I hadn't heard about them before now.

"We started out making soap in our kitchen in New South Wales, Australia several years ago.  As a psoriasis sufferer Dharma wanted to find products that were not only kind on the skin but therapeutic. She loved soap but found most to be harsh and irritating (read more about the differences between handmade soap and mass-produced soap here) and full of unknown or undesirable ingredients. So she started making her own with natural and organic ingredients that were gentle on her skin. They were such a hit with friends and family she started selling her soaps at markets and soon built up a loyal customer base.  After a move back to England we decided to rebrand and call ourselves The Bakewell Soap Company, taking inspiration from our beautiful surroundings."

Now I’m not one for washing my face with soap, I hate the stripping sensation and the tightness it causes but I decided to try this out as all of the ingredients were natural. I was curious to see if that would make a difference and not leave my skin feeling so dry.

The products themselves are little potato shaped balls and pack a hell of a punch in the scent department. The first thing that grabbed my attention was the packaging, I mean look at how cute that little potato sack is.

The fragrances within each pouch is as follows:

Lavender & Poppy Seed:
This is an exfoliating soap which helps sooth itchy, highly sensitive and problem skin.

Lemongrass & Ginger:
This is my favourite of the bunch as it smells so fresh and amazing. This is to be used on psoriasis, acne-prone or inflamed skin. It helps to close pores and tone down oiliness.

May Chang & Calendula:
This has a strong lemon smell which is delightful. It is to be used on oily and blemish prone skin.

English Rose & Ylang Ylang:
This has a very delicate and floral scent which helps balance sebum, the natural oil that generates on our skin. This soap works well with combination skin.

Rhubarb & Raspberry:
This is great for soothing any break outs and skin eruptions. This isn’t very strong smelling at all which is quite nice actually.

Champa Flower & Honeysuckle:
This soap helps to hydrate, moisturise and protect. A soap best suited for mature or dry skin.

I have been using Lemongrass and Ginger as this one grabbed my attention straightaway due to the scent and the fact that it can help with my oily skin. I was also having a little inflammation problem due to some new creams I was sampling. The scent is so fresh and clean and the lather of this soap is perfect, it gives a nice even coat of product and it just felt like butter.  I know it’s a cardinal sin to use foaming products but after a few days use, I haven’t had any issues with this soap. It isn’t like any other soap I have used nor does it have that original soapy smell that normally puts me off.

As normal I have been cleansing my face twice a day and on each occasion I have been using the Lemongrass and Ginger soap. On days where I have worn makeup, I have used this as a second cleanser to remove the last traces of makeup and to clean my face. The only issue I have is the fact that it didn’t remove the last bits of mascara so I went in with cotton pads to get rid of that.

Each time I have used this my skin has felt clean and soft. I haven’t had any issues with tightness in my skin nor have I had any dry patches. I haven’t had any reactions either. I did feel a slight tingling sensation after the first use but I think it may have been because of the inflammation on my chin, it wasn't uncomfortable at all and eased off when I removed with water.

I can’t wait to try the others and give a full review on each one as they help with difference skin problems. Obviously the issues I don’t have means I will give the soap treatments to others and get their thoughts on them to give you an idea of how they work.

Have you heard of this brand?
Have you tried any of their products before?

My September Favourites

Hi guys,

I honestly cannot believe it’s the start of October already!! I don’t know where that term comes “Time flies when you’re having fun” because I have not been having fun and the time has still flew past! Anyway, this list is very short guys as I have not been loving a lot to be honest. So I will dive right in shall I?

I received this in my Look Fantastic Beauty Box at the start of this month and have used a little almost every night since. The smell is intoxicating and beautiful. I have to say I don’t know if it’s a placebo effect but it has really worked on me and I have had the most relaxing sleep over the past couple of weeks. In love with this. Really need to add it to my Christmas wish list.

As you know I have been hitting the gym hard this month and have loved it but I won’t bore you again instead I have linked my post in sub header.

This is my lips but better, it is the perfect shade for those days when I want to go a little more natural.

I really needed a mask which hydrated my skin rather than detoxed or purified it so I picked this up in my recent haul and could not be more impressed. My skin really needed a moisture boost so I was happy that this actually worked. I will be repurchasing when I run out to keep my skin silky soft throughout winter.

This is my all-time favourite blush so it’s probably no surprise that I have been wearing this all month and totally fell in love again. It is the perfect shade for me as it is a lovely apricot shade which just compliments pale skin perfectly however it wouldn’t suit darker tones as you would need to build and build to get a good colour.

That’s all for this month guys as I have just been wearing all of my normal make up items and nothing has really stood out for me I’m afraid. Next month will hopefully be better as it will be getting darker and I will probably be talking about skincare and bath products mostly!

What have been your favourites this month?

Rimmel Apocalips Matte Lip Velvets

Rimmel Apocalips Matte Lip Velvets

Apocalips Matte Lip Velvets

Rimmel Apocalips Swatches

Hi guys,

I had read so many reviews on the new Rimmel Apocalips Matte Lip Velvets (£6.49) and decided to pick them up. There are only 4 colours in the line-up at the moment but i am pretty sure there will be more added as they have proved to be popular.

The colours i picked up were Burning Lava and Atomic Rose, you can find my recent haul post here if you wanna see what else I bought. Boots were offering 2 for £10 which is always nice and i can safely say i was happy with my choices. Burning Lava is a deep red shade which is going to be great for Autumn/Winter and Atomic Rose is an orange pink shade which will be perfect all year round.

This feels like a mousse when applied to the lips. It glided on with such ease but I would wear a lip liner with it to prevent it from going outside the lines, especially with Burning Lava as I noticed it did bleed out over the course of the day. It did dry pretty quickly but I would have liked it to dry quicker if I’m being honest.

With all matte products they are normally very drying on the lips but these weren’t bad at all. I loved the colours, although I wish there was more options to choose from. All in all, a great little product.

Have you tried these lip velvets yet?
What were your thoughts on them?
