Korean Skincare: Tony Moly I'm Real Sheet Masks

Hi guys,

After a harrowing week last week, I lost all my uni work from my pen drive and laptop including my dissertation and an essay, i've decided to chill today. No need to worry though as I managed to get some of my dissertation notes from my supervisor who I thankfully emailed a couple of days before but I had to start my essay from the beginning again which annoyed me as it was almost finished! A break is very much needed ha-ha.

Today its mine and Liam's eight year anniversary and my sisters birthday so we are going to a wee family meal and then grabbing some drinks later on tonight with Liam which should be nice. As i'm off the wine for the foreseeable future, I have to try and find something to drink which I actually like. First world problems eh? I cant believe its been eight years though, sometimes it feels like thirty and other times it feels like a couple of months! Anyway, thought I would give you a wee update but lets move on shall we.

Korean Skincare

Tony Moly I'm Real Sheet Masks

One of the hottest, albeit unattractive skincare trends to come our way has been the sheet mask and I am no stranger to it. I have used numerous sheet masks over the last couple of years and still think Timeless Truth offer some of the best. But, I spotted Tony Moly Sheet Masks (£6) on Cult a few months ago and decided to give them a shot due to their eye catching packaging. I have been using these for a while now and have honestly loved them.

I'm Real Sheet Masks

At £6 a pop, they aren’t cheap when you want to buy all of them together, but if you buy a few at a time it’s not so bad.  There is a wide range of sheet masks ranging from Skin Purifying to Pore Care to Moisturising so they have a little something for everyone. After I bought them separately from Cult, I noticed Amazon had all of them for £11 including free delivery, which makes it £1 per mask. I am a little sceptical when it comes to buying cheap known brands from Ebay or Amazon but these are the exact same as my Cult ones so I know they aren't fakes. I have since bought another 3 boxes from Amazon!

There are three layers to most of these cotton mask excluding the brightening one which only has two. This type of mask helps the product penetrate the skin better. They are either water, emulsion or milky based but I will give you a rundown as we get into each one. Water based masks are highly moisturising. Emulsion based masks supply water and oils into your skin which absorb quickly while the milky based ones give your skin much needed nutrition.

It is recommended to leave them for 20 to 30 minutes but I leave them on for about 40 to 50 minutes while I watch an episode of Gilmore Girls or Sex and the City (for the millionth time) or read a book as I like it to soak into my pores and give my skin the best treatment. Once I remove, the mask is quite dry to the touch so I know the product has really absorbed into my skin. All of the masks are paraben, talc, benzophenone, ethanol amine tray and tar colour free for anyone who is on a need to know basis. I have sensitive skin and I haven't suffered any side effects with these masks with the odd exception. Im only going to talk about five of these masks today as I have used these about four times each so I feel I can give my honest opinion with them. Once I have used all of the others, I will do a part 2.

Tony Moly I'm Real Red Wine Mask Sheet

Tony Moly I'm Real Red Wine Mask Sheet - Pore Care (Emulsion)
Every time I use this my oily/sensitive skin has thanked me. It is infused with real red wine extracts (my kind of mask!), jasmine, green tea and rosemary to tackle enlarged pores but it also helps to tighten the skin. I didn't notice a strong fragrance from this mask, I was slightly disappointed that it didn't smell of wine if im being honest but it worked so that's the main thing. After each use, my skin felt super hydrated and looked healthier but I didn't notice my pores feeling tighter (I didn't believe that for a second). A great mask for hydration but not so much for pores.

Tony Moly I'm Real Seaweed Mask Sheet

Tony Moly I'm Real Seaweed Mask Sheet - Skin Purifying (Emulsion)
This mask if for troublesome skin which is supposed to help clear your skin. I didn't get that at all from this. Infact, my skin felt incredibly itchy once applied and I felt it was irritating me. I loved the cooling factor of this but I have to say, its not my favourite due to the irritating factor.

Tony Moly I'm Real Aloe Mask Sheet

Tony Moly I'm Real Aloe Mask Sheet - Moisturizing (Water)
This sheet mask is perfect for all skin types and is infused with aloe vera and bamboo juice which helps to moisturize, calm, and soothe sensitive skin. I love this mask. It does exactly what it says it will. I have used this four times now and each time my skin felt incredible. Do you know on those rare days when we have sunshine in the UK, well this would be amazing for the day after if you have caught a little sun and your skin feels a little dry. It will also be a staple in my bathroom this winter as my skin gets so dry during the colder months. I also think it would be amazing for a long haul flight as we all know how our skin feels after all that recycled air has its way.

Tony Moly I'm Real Tea Tree Mask Sheet

Tony Moly I'm Real Tea Tree Mask Sheet - Skin Soothing (Water)
Okay, this has to be my favourite. I am obsessed with tea tree oil as it helps with blemish prone skin and it also helps to soothe skin too hence the reason this is a skin soothing mask. Duh Lauren! This is infused with green tea leaf extract which tones down any redness and calms inflammation. Along with tea tree and green tea, it contains lemon which brightens and rosemary & jasmine both of which help to sooth. I found this mask to be very cooling. If you have any issues with blemishes, then I would pick up a few of these and use two or three times to help combat the problem. I normally pop one of these on if my skin is feeling a little groggy and when I can feel a spot niggling away under my skin and it works like magic.

Tony Moly I'm Real Lemon Mask Sheet

Tony Moly I'm Real Lemon Mask Sheet - Brightening (Water)
This is the only mask within the collection that contains two sheets rather than three. It is infused with the glorious lemon along with other citrus fruit extracts which help to rejuvenate and brighten dull skin. What I love most about this is the glow it gives my skin. Even after one use, my skin was exuding radiance. It’s not so great with hydration but honestly, if all you are looking for is brighter, clearer, glowy skin, then this is the one for you.
