My October Favourites

My October Favourites

My October Favourites - Beauty Talk With Lauren

Urban Decay Setting Spray

Hi guys,

I cannot believe how quickly this year has gone by! I feel as though I just started my second year of college and celebrated my birthday but in actual fact that was 4 months ago and it’s almost 2015! Wow, anyway, this is my October Favourites and there are some oldies but goodies in here, some new products that I have been wearing nonstop and also some randoms.

I bought this a few weeks ago in a CT haul which you can find here and I also have a full review which you can find here. The shade I bought was called Love Liberty. It has not left my lips since it arrived. It is simply stunning. Glides on perfectly, distributes the perfect amount of colour which can be built up. Perfect lipstick in my opinion. Really need to buy some more shades.

I have been reaching for this more and more, especially in the colder months as it is the best product I have ever tried. Yes, it beats Lush! This is only £1 and honestly, I am yet to find bath salts to rival it. These give me the softest skin, totally relax me and help ease sore muscles especially after a hefty gym session or a full on body pump class.

This is pricey but I am glad I bought it. It gives my skin a boost of hydration and leaves it looking super glowy. I like to wear this on its own when I want a makeup free day and my skin looks great. It is perfect under makeup too as it gives my foundation something to grip onto, not that it needs it but I find it acts as a primer too. I recently put together a little review over on Scot Bloggers if you wanna check it out by clicking here.

This has been my best friend for the past couple of weeks as I have had really sore lips. I layer it on in the morning and then at night time so it can sink in and hydrate my lips through the night. I always wake up with smooth lips and it just keeps them hydrated throughout the day. Perfect for the colder months.

This is a new find for me but I am loving it. It’s very creamy and blends really well. I love that it covers redness, dark circles and any blemishes without highlighting them.

This is one of my favourite masks, I have been using this twice a week for a while now and it does exactly what it says on the tube! I will write up a full review very soon.

I bought this a few weeks ago as I wanted to see what all the hype was about and I can see why it has become a firm favourite amongst us beauty bloggers. I normally use a 99p wax pencil as I haven’t found anything to rival it, it creates a great shape, keeps my brows in shape and is easy to use but this S&G brow pencil is becoming a must have for me. It has a soft nib on one side and a felt tip on the other to create texture.

Bakewell Soap Company Soaps
I have been using these every day since I was sent them. I have to say I am impressed but I won’t waffle on as I have a first impressions post here where I go into detail of company and products and a review which you can find here where I discuss the products I personally use.

Love this setting spray. I normally use Model in a Bottle (£18) but I have found it to be a little sticky the last few times I have bought it so I changed it up for this and I haven’t looked back. It keeps my makeup set all day and all night if I am on a night out. Wouldn’t be without it now.

Hot Chocolate
Well if you can’t have hot chocolate in Autumn/Winter when can you have it! The one I have been reaching for most is Wispa. I love the airy feel to it and with whipped cream and marshmallows, it’s the perfect drink to chill out with when you are cold and miserable.

Autumn TV
I love this time of year as all my favourite tv shows come back on including Criminal Minds, Greys Anatomy, The Blacklist, The Originals and The Vampire Diaries. Can’t get enough of these shows, I actually find myself just watching the box sets until new seasons start ha-ha.

Halloween
It’s the best holiday apart from Christmas in my opinion! I love everything about it from the candy apples, the costumes, monkey nuts, tricker treating and scary movies. This year my friend Ross is hosting a party which is going to be amazing! Looking forward to that. I will post a picture to IG so keep your eyes peeled as its going to be scary.

What have you been loving this month?

The Bakewell Soap Company | Soapatoes

The Bakewell Soap Company Soapatoes

Hi guys,

I’ve had a bit of a rough week as there was a sudden loss in the family. You never expect it to happen but when it happens in these circumstances you can’t help but feel shocked and helpless. As well as coming to terms with that, I have had to finish some work for my college report and I honestly could have done without it this week but I am glad it’s done and now I can get to work on the actually body of the report. I hate planning my work, I would rather just get it done. I don’t mind planning every other aspect of my life but to tell someone how I plan to do a report seems like a waste of time. It’s been tough but you know what, life goes on. I won’t bore you all with my worries so let’s move on shall we?

I gave you a rundown of The Bakewell Soap Company a few weeks ago and I thought I would give you my final thoughts on the Soapatoes. As I said, I was using my Lemongrass and Ginger Soap (£3.95) as it is supposed to help with blemish prone skin as I wholeheartedly agree with that statement. The smell is very intense with ginger so it’s great for using in the morning as it helps to wake me up. I can’t say i haven’t had any breakouts since using it as I am just a blemish prone kind of a girl. Like most girls I get hormonal acne, especially along my jawline and chin and although this soap hasn’t taken that away completely, it has calmed it down ever so slightly so it isn’t as red as it usually is. This is now a firm staple in my bathroom and I haven’t gone a day without using it.

At night I have been using Champa Flower and Honeysuckle (£3.95) as it is supposed to moisturise and hydrate. As you know by now, I do suffer from dry skin every now and then and after wearing makeup all day, you want nothing more than to add moisture back into your face and this does just that. This is such a beautiful scented soap, the only problem is the fact that it doesn’t remove the last traces of mascara so I have to go over my lashes with eye makeup remover but it does help to hydrate my skin and I’m not left with that tight feeling after I have dried my face.
I have really enjoyed using these soaps. As I was sent soaps for various skin types, I had to give them to others as I don’t suffer from bad acne or really dry skin. One person who reported back was my sisters boyfriend who has acne, he is only 18 so he is getting the brunt of teenage acne just now and wanted something to help so I gave him the May Chang and Calendula soap. He said that his face felt really clean, more so with this than with any other soap he has used before. He also stated that it helped sooth his skin which was nice to hear. The only thing he wasn’t so keen on was the smell, it is very strong with lemon though so it may not suit everyone’s tastes.

TBC have a long list of ingredients on their website along with the benefits of using them so that may be a place to start if you wanted to try some of their products. If I could change anything about Soapatoes, it would be the shape. They are just a little annoying especially when you want to get a good lather and they keep falling out of your hands. Their other soaps are rectangular shaped so I would continue buying them in the future but I don’t like the rounded edges as they fall about my soap dish and I hate that I can’t get a firm grip of them.  I dont want to leave it on a negative note because these soaps are great, they do what they say on the tin. They have really helped to calm down my blemishes and my forehead hasn't felt as oily as it normally does, also the dry patches around my nose and cheeks are slowly fading which is amazing.

Charlotte Tilbury | Matte Revolution Lipstick in Love Liberty

Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in Love Liberty

Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick

Matte Revolution Lipstick

Love Liberty

Charlotte Tilbury Love Liberty Swatch
Top shade is one swipe of bullet.
Bottom shade is three swipes of bullet.

Hello guys,

As you know, I bought the Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick (£23) in the shade Love Liberty in a recent haul which you can find here. I have been eyeing up the CT line ever since it launched so when I saved up a little, I went a little crazy but one thing I am over the moon with is this lipstick. It is a deep berry shade which would suit every skin tone in my opinion. As you know, I have fair skin but I watched a few videos on YouTube and saw swatches on Instagram by girls who have lighter skin tones and darker skin tones and it looked stunning on each and every one of the ladies.

The packaging is first class all the way. The rose gold lipstick just oozes old school glamour and after listening to Charlotte in interviews its clear to see she uses Old Hollywood as part of her inspirations, hence the gorgeous packaging. I always remember playing with my grannys makeup when I was a little girl and she had a gold packaged lipstick with a deep berry shade inside so this reminded me of that and I had a little tear in my eye as it conjured up some lovely memories of one of the most special people I had the pleasure of knowing. Soppy git!
Back to this lipstick, it is moulded to fill in your lips perfectly as it has a chiselled edge to catch the cupids bow so you don’t have to bother moving the bullet round to suit your lip shape. The colour is just perfection in my opinion. Unlike most matte lipsticks, these are so hydrating. I normally apply a lip balm or butter to my lips before using any matte lipstick as they normally dry my lips out, especially if I have been wearing them for a number of hours but I don’t have to do that with this. It also glides on like butter and I like the fact that you can have a muted shade with just one swipe but you can build up the intensity with more product as it doesn’t feel heavy on your lips. All round this is the perfect lipstick.

Zoella Beauty | Let's Glow

Zoella Beauty Lets Glow

Zoella Lets Glow Fizz Bar

Zoella Lets Glow Candle

Hey guys

As you know Zoella is the biggest beauty Youtuber out there at the moment, I think she has something like 7 million followers and her social media following is off the charts too, so when she launched her new beauty line, I had to pick up a few bits to see what it was all about. The range is called Lets Glow and has everything from candles to bath products to makeup bags. I only picked up the Fizz Bar and the Candle as I wasn’t really feeling anything else to be honest and everything else seemed to be sold out on Superdrug and Feel Unique.

The packaging just screamed of Zoella, it was very clean looking as well as girly. The candle comes in a tin container which is very small but for the price tag, I wasn’t expecting a huge candle. It has a blend of white wood, sweet vanilla and soft floral notes. I wasn’t blown away with this to be honest, it was nice but wasn’t nice enough and was nowhere near strong enough for my tastes. The scent was very very faint and I couldn’t smell it throughout the day after I blew out my wick like I normally can with my favourite Yankie Candles. I can’t comment on the 20 hours of burning time as I didn’t sit down with a timer but i did use it over the course of 3 days and burned it for a few hours each day.

The Fizz Bar has exactly the same fragrance as the candle and again, I wasn't overly impressed with it. It is recommended to use 1 to 2 blocks of the “chocolate bar” bath product to create a nice fizz and to give the perfect bath but it completely disappeared once it hit the bath and the water didn’t look any different, it also didn’t smell strong at all. Not what I want from a bath product. I think I have been spoiled by all of Lush`s offerings and my Radox Herbal Bath Salts so I expected more from this but sadly I didn’t get it. The following night I decided to add in four blocks but it didn’t make a difference.

I expected to be totally relaxed by the fizz bar and sadly it didn’t offer anything other than being aesthetically pleasing but as far as scent wise and having a great bathing experience, I didn’t get it.

I hate that I wasn’t blown away by these products as I really like Zoe Sugg, I think she comes across very sincere and she is obviously doing something right to have the kind of following she does but sadly her products didn’t work for me. That’s not to say it won’t work for you but I am used to stronger smelling scents for my bath products and I expect bath bomb types to give me softer skin and a perfect bathing experience which these didn’t.

P.S I used Zoella's pictures from her blog as I could not get decent pictures. I have linked back to her website by writing "Source" under the picture so you can click that and it will take you straight to her blog post.

Sudocrem | Skin Care Cream

Sudocrem Skin Care Cream

Sudocrem

Skin Care Cream

Hi guys,

I don’t know about you but when I think of Sudocrem, I can hear my mum scream down the hallway “Just put Sudocrem on it” in her big booming Glaswegian accent. This was used for everything in my house from changing a nappy to a healing a cut knee to a reducing a pimple. You name it, my mum passed the cream and expected it to work. As I’ve gotten older, it’s nice to hear other people had similar experiences with their mums and this product ha-ha. It has a very distinctive smell to it, when you think of the name, you can instantly smell it, well I can and it isn’t all pleasant as it reminds me of changing my sisters nappy when she was only a baby and the constant struggle to keep her at peace while I tried (and failed) to get the cream on and fasten the nappy without being covered in the thick white gloop or God knows what else. So when I was asked to sample it, I hesitated at first and then remembered it was actually good for just about everything you threw at it. Mums do know best after all.

I can’t remember if Sudocrem has always been marketed as a skincare product, I don’t mean like a moisturiser or anything but as something that would help with everything, I thought it was for burns to be honest but I may be wrong. This is being marketed as a skincare product which is suitable for all skin types, especially blemish prone skin and is supposed to sooth and protect so we shall see if it lives up to that statement.

Once I popped this sample open I had a flush of memories come back to me and I actually smiled. It’s amazing when something can do that. But I was keen to try this out to see if it made a difference to my skin at all.

As I remembered, this was very thick. Almost unworkable at first but once I warmed it up between my fingers it gave way a little. I really focused this on my dry patches and on the little blemishes that suddenly erupted on my left cheek and used it for about a week before making a decision.

I`m going to put it out there, I don’t like the texture at all. It is far too thick and I felt like it pulled my skin which I don’t want as it causes wrinkles. I am nearing 30 so I can be worried about these things now ha-ha. I did like that it helped to hydrate my skin and my dry patches around my nose and cheeks were pretty much non-existent at the end of the trial. I did see a slight difference with my blemishes as I did when I was a teenager so that was no surprise really.

Would I buy it, yes if the consistency changed. It felt too thick for me and Im sure a few others would agree with me. I loved how it made my skin feel after I warmed the product up a little and I liked that it helped with my spots which is what it promised. After doing a little digging around to see how others fared this product, I was surprised to see some bloggers using this as a spot drying cream so I might give that a go and see how it goes.

Would you use this cream?
Or do you only think of nappy cream when you see it?

Charlotte Tilbury Haul

Charlotte Tilbury

Happy Friday guys,

I was again, very naughty but I really really wanted to buy some Charlotte Tilbury products as she has been a huge talking point on social media at the moment and among bloggers. Plus, the packaging is far too cute. It just oozes Old Hollywood Glamour with lashings of sex appeal.

Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream

Magic Cream

Can I really justify spending this amount on a face cream? Yes, yes I can. I know I am a student and I am supposed to be poor but all my bills were paid on time, I had plenty of food in the fridge, petrol in the car and I noticed an empty spot on my skincare shelf so yes, I needed this. I did feel guilty for about an hour afterwards but hey ho! I have been eyeing this up for the longest time and had it on my Christmas wish list but I decided to buy it myself and not ask anyone else to spend that kind of money on one product for me (my family/boyfriend can’t justify it the way I can ha!)

Charlotte Tilbury Lipstick

Matte Revolution Lipstick

Love Liberty

Can we all take a moment for this lipstick though! I have died and gone to cosmetic Heaven. I am right into my deep berry/burgundy shades at the moment and this fits that bill perfectly. It isn’t a typical matte lipstick that will dry out your lips, it actually feels quite hydrating and one swipe of this will leave you gasping as it is highly pigmented. I think this shade would suit all skintones.

Charlotte Tilbury Eye Palette

I think I might shed a tear at how beautiful this is! Look at it! I can’t even put into words how beautiful this is so I am going to let the pictures do the talking.

Charlotte Tilbury Full Fat Lashes

Charlotte Tilbury Full Fat Lashes Wand

I wish I hadn’t bothered with this mascara now as I really don’t like it. I felt it didn’t do anything for my lashes apart from make them very dark at the roots but I didn’t get lift, volume, length etc. Waste of money in my opinion.

That’s all I bought on this haul but I will be picking up some more as I have my eye on the eyeliner, more lipsticks and the foundation. I will do full reviews of these products if you want, let me know in the comments below what you would like to hear about first and your wish will be granted!

Sleek Lip Glosses | Gloss Me

Hello guys,

I decided to review the Sleek Gloss Me Lip Glosses (£4.49) today as I found them in my drawer after buying them a few months ago and totally forgetting about them. They were on offer at the time so I picked up two, 437 So Berry Sweet and 441 Belle of The Ball. As you know, I’m not usually a gloss lover but something about these caught my eye and I decided to just go for it.

SBS is a gorgeous shimmery red shade whereas BoTB is a dusky pink colour. They are both high shine glosses that are supposed to be long lasting (I dont know about that). Both are very “me” as these are the colours I gravitate towards when it comes to lip colours and I couldn’t be happier with them.

I have really been loving these, they are a gloss so don’t expect them to stay put for a long time (even though Sleek think they do) but I have to say, they are some of the most pigmented glosses I have ever purchased. I don’t find them to be drying on my lips and I have no issue with stickiness. The only downfall is they don’t last for ages, other than that, they get a big old thumbs up from me.

Have you tried these?
Do you have any recommendations?
