The Fall Fashion: Style Guide with Peter Minkoff |
Hi guys,
I
have been an incredibly bad blogger as I haven't managed to get any posts out
recently and have been too busy to talk to anyone via social media. As you may
or may not know, I entered my final year of Uni at the end of September and I have been swamped with work ever since. I don't know why I thought this year would
be a breeze because it is not! On top of studying, I have got myself a little
job in an accounting firm near me which means I can put all my knowledge to
good use. I am so excited, I thought I was going to have to wait forever to get
a job and was really panicking about it but thank God they contacted me and
offered me something part time to work round Uni. I have also been super busy
with The Body Coach as I started Cycle 1 3 weeks ago and have to keep on top of
food prep and exercising which takes a lot out of you. If you would like to see
an update on Cycle 1, just let me know in the comments below guys and I will
let you know at the end of the 4 weeks. Moving away from my personal life and
onto the actual post now shall we?
The gorgeous Peter Minkoff is back! His last post was very successful here on An Impatient Scottish Girl so he decided to put together a little Fall/Autumn fashion post for all you fashionistas out there, I hope you enjoy it guys.
Fall
is always bringing us new fashion goodies to try on. We have seen many interesting styles walking on
the runways and, believe it or not, many of them are quite wearable. Just when we
thought that designers cannot surprise us and deliver something fresh and
exciting, we have seen living-room-design-similar patterns, neo-ethnic style,
fur reinvented, neo-Victorian, etc. Among the many styles, there is a little
something for every lady. Together we will go through the major trends that
could impact the way we shop our clothes and put together our outfits.
PATCH YOU UP
The Fall Fashion: Style Guide with Peter Minkoff |
Wearing
all patched up clothes may seem as a silly thing to you, but believe us what we
have seen on the catwalk is far from homeless-like fashion. Valentino, Etro and
ChloƩ presented patchwork textures that made a really big
impact. From a maxi sweater dress (Etro) and a long coat (Valentino) to Calvin
Klein’s reinvented little black dress to ChloĆ©’s poncho-like dress, these
“patchy” pieces enchanted the viewers. The best thing about it, it is quite
easy to incorporate this style into your wardrobe. You can wear a patchwork
sweater and a classic pair of jeans. Just combine it with a monochromatic shoes
and accessories.

FURRY DETAILS
The Fall Fashion: Style Guide with Peter Minkoff |
Just
after diamonds and other gemstones, fur is on the top-list as lady’s best
friend. Still, wearing all fur, similar to wearing all diamonds, can be a bit
over-the-top to say at the least. This season, however, the devil is in the
details. If we follow the tips of reputed designer names, such as Prada and Proenza Schouler, we can be sure that we will
wear small but visible furry details on everything from evening dresses to
double-breasted coats. If you are among true fashion aficionados, you will
follow this trend. Just remember that you still should not combine fur and
sportswear, anything else is allowed.
NINETEENTH CENTURY QUEEN
The Fall Fashion: Style Guide with Peter Minkoff |
When
a lady needs to show off her elegance, there is nothing better than to take her
inspiration from the queens and high-society ladies of the nineteenth century.
We have seen so much elegant lace and high-neck ruffled collar and fell in love
in this royal-like feel. Ricardo Tisci and some other designers used this era
as an inspiration for some more modern pieces meant for street style, while
Valentino and others took this opportunity to give a new twist to red-carpet
wear. Oscar de la Renta was, as always, thinking about women’s elegancy and
additionally decorated the lace with small roses. Neo-Victorian is mostly
evening wear, and, because of the richness of the fabrics and textures, it is
best to be worn without any particularly conspicuous accessories.
Choose your favourite trend or wear them all. Turn the streets of your city into your very own catwalk. Just be sure you feel good in what you are wearing and everything will be great.
