Keeping Up With the Organics | Makeup & Skincare With Peter Minkoff

Organic Makeup and Skincare

Hi guys,

As you know, I have had a few guest posts over the 2 years this blog has been active and Peter Minkoff always hits it out the park with his knowledgeable fashion posts but this time he has ventured into organic makeup and skincare. I wont chat too much as this isn't about me, its about Peter so please have a read and let me know what you think in the comments. Do you agree with this post?

Choosing organic makeup and skincare products over regular ones is basically opting for your health in the first place – skin is your largest organ and you should really treat it with respect. A transition to healthier and more natural products is a must, simply because they will make your skin look perfectly cleansed and nourished. Here are five important reasons for you to keep up with the organics.

They’re Gentle Towards Your Skin
Organic beauty products are made of 100% natural ingredients. This means that their production excludes a wide range of different toxins and chemicals that are typically used during the production of regular makeup and skincare products. Artificially added fragrances, as well as parabens and many other substances are excluded from the formula, which is why such products will not dry out your skin and make it look dull and flaky. Organics work better than their counterparts in the conventional skincare, simply because their list of ingredients is appropriate for all skin types – and even for the sensitive one.

There Are No Strange Side Effects
In case you didn’t know, parabens are heavily used in the beauty industry nowadays for extending the shelf life of products. They are actually synthetic chemicals that can possibly alter human endocrine system, since they can mimic out human body’s natural hormones. If you use such products on a daily basis, you will eventually end up accumulating those hazardous substances in your body, which can lead to serious health problems such as cancer. On the other hand, organic beauty products are based on the natural ingredients, such as essential oils, that won’t affect your body by causing irritations, breakouts or allergic reactions.

Organic Makeup and Skincare

They’re Nutrient-Rich
Organic beauty products are rich in natural ingredients that have multiple benefits to our skin. First of all, they often feature different antioxidants and vitamins, as well as oils that are extracted from coconut, sesame seed, cocoa, and many others. Besides that, they are rich in minerals such as calcium and magnesium that will keep your skin nourished all day long. Numerous brands today have completely turned to organic formulas, and one of them is 100 Percent Pure. This brand offers the most pure, all-natural line of cosmetics that aims to give your skin its maximum benefits, without irritating any skin type.

There Are No Harsh Chemicals
Numerous toxic chemicals are commonly present in all kinds of makeup, personal care products – from shampoos and body creams, to mascaras and lipsticks. First of all, there are parabens that are often found in underarm deodorants, which are thought to cause breast cancer. Artificial fragrances are well-known allergens that can cause asthma and trigger asthma attacks, whereas lead is often used in the production of lipsticks. All of these are extremely harmful to our health, which is exactly why it is a good idea to switch to organic ones. They contain exclusively natural ingredients that are not hazardous to health.

They’re Eco-Friendly
Most of the organic products nowadays are packed into recyclable containers, and that even more emphasizes the importance of eco-friendly approach to their production. Besides that, their ingredients have been grown with specific methods of bio-farming. This prevents numerous toxins from being released into the environment, which largely promotes taking care of our planet and being responsible towards it. Going green is definitely a good way to go.

Switching to organic makeup and skincare products is absolutely one of the greatest things you can do for your health and overall well-being, and it is good to know that there are organic counterparts for the majority of the beauty products you use. Besides from being much healthier and gentler towards your skin, they are protecting the environment from the toxic substances. It really can’t get better than that!

Thanks

Would you switch up your makeup and skincare to all organic or are you bothered by what is in your beauty products?

The Fall Fashion: Style Guide with Peter Minkoff

The Fall Fashion: Style Guide with Peter Minkoff
Hi guys,

I have been an incredibly bad blogger as I haven't managed to get any posts out recently and have been too busy to talk to anyone via social media. As you may or may not know, I entered my final year of Uni at the end of September and I have been swamped with work ever since. I don't know why I thought this year would be a breeze because it is not! On top of studying, I have got myself a little job in an accounting firm near me which means I can put all my knowledge to good use. I am so excited, I thought I was going to have to wait forever to get a job and was really panicking about it but thank God they contacted me and offered me something part time to work round Uni. I have also been super busy with The Body Coach as I started Cycle 1 3 weeks ago and have to keep on top of food prep and exercising which takes a lot out of you. If you would like to see an update on Cycle 1, just let me know in the comments below guys and I will let you know at the end of the 4 weeks. Moving away from my personal life and onto the actual post now shall we?

Getting Lost In It With Katy Harmston

Katy Harmston

Hi guys,

If you are a makeup or any type of art enthusiast you will understand the term 'Just Getting Lost In It'. This is so easy to do when you’re creative freedom is let loose and your eyes start to see the world and life in a whole new light. After my makeup post 'Butterfly Tropics', I developed a love for over exaggerated makeup. That look was very colorful and vibrant; I began to feel I needed to experiment with darker and gothic inspired tones. I didn't want it to look vampire-esque as I do feel sometimes it can become slightly childlike and you start to morph towards a Halloween inspired look. I wanted to keep it high fashion and have a depth of femininity to it.

Gothic Makeup

I feel there is a lot of movement in this look even though makeup obviously doesn't move. What I mean by this is, is that you can move around with this type of look and it redefines the shape of your face from all different angles. It is mind blowing how you can change the face with makeup by targeting certain areas to enhance certain features, and hiding those flaws that you don't want people to see.

You can see this in the transformation below; the look is very heavily focused around the eyes and the eyebrows. However I am very happy I stayed true to my vision that darkness doesn't need to be blood and gore. It reminds me of a very sensual Queen of Damned type of look.

Before and After Makeup Look

Products Used

As you can see from the products used above, not a lot of makeup was used for this look and surprisingly it did not feel heavy. I really liked wearing it actually; it was such a change to what society deems your everyday makeup to be.

Vampire Makeup

I hope you like this fun look and if you have any inspirational looks you would like me to experiment with then please leave suggestions in the comments below. If you are a blogger and would like to collaborate on an exaggerated post please either leave your comments below, email me or contact me on any of the social media platforms below. I will definitely get back to you.

Men's Skincare | Revamp your Routine

Revamp your Skincare Routine

Hi guys,

I decided to incorporate another guest post into my Blog and I am happy to introduce Jeb. He runs a men’s fashion, beauty and lifestyle blog called Lord Jeb. So without further ado, here is Jeb’s guest post.

Now I’m guessing most you have a brother/father/boyfriend/best friend and I’m guessing not many of those have the most complicated of morning routines. I will admit I don’t always follow through with mine (sometimes it's a quick splash of water to the face!) so I thought I give you guys a few suggestions to slip into the bathroom cabinet to refine him but not confuse him!

I love this Clinique Face Wash (£16) as it is super-duper gentle and leaves my skin feeling so fresh which is so hard as I suffer from extremely dry skin, weird for a teenager I know. This is a perfect pre-shave as it’s gentle yet tough. It’s great for soothing the skin and removing the dirt and oils from your pores. On the note of shaving, beards are everywhere, literally everywhere! and whether you love it or loathe it on him, it’s a cause you may have to lose on. If you loathe it you may as well love the way it smells which is why I think the Tom Ford Beard Oil (£40) is perfect as it nourishes the beard and fragrances it with the classic beautiful ‘Neroli Portofino’ scent. Yeah this is a little pricey for an oil but I tried to make sure that there was a product for every budget on this list which leads me on very nicely to my next product! Which is the Cucumber Eye Gel from Boots which is a snazzy bargain at £1.50!!!!! It’s a lovely product and such a great alternative to a concealer as it brightens the eyes. It is my go to staple after a long night out (or in finishing OITNB season 3!). It really does hydrate the eyes and make you look like you’ve had a perfect night’s sleep. I also love the packaging as it’s so simple and neutral.

My last product is this Catastrophe Cosmetic Mask (£6.50) from Lush which is so calming and moisturising, something I find to be great for my skin especially as I’m kind of growing out my moustache. It helps me not have a little dead bush above my lip (although I’m not quite at that stage yet (baby steps!) With ingredients like talcum and blueberries, it’s great for moisturising after a dodgy shave on the go! I hope you have enjoyed my guest post on Beauty Talk With Lauren, please be sure to check out my blog, follow me on bloglovin’ and Instagram and tell me what the man or men in your life think! Jeb.

Our long-awaited summer is finally here! Long romantic walks across the beach, soft, white sand under your bare feet, crystal clear water, intoxicating smell of the sea and, most importantly, the utmost relaxation… is there anything more amazing than that? We believe that you spent at least a couple of months preparing your body for the beach season and now, it’s finally the time for you to put all preps to an end and start enjoying!

Most of us get stuck packing dozens of necessary stuff that we forget to pay attention to something we care about the most- our fashion style. Many girls think that the beach is the only place where they don’t have to mind their look, but that’s terribly wrong. Beach provides us with an amazing opportunity to show off our beach body and unique fashion sense. So, before you hit the road, you should definitely choose and bring your favorite beach essentials with you. If you are pressed with time (as we all are), we listed out a couple of beach must-haves for you. Check them out!

Swimwear

Remember when you bought that fancy bikini and later on, while looking at the photos, you had that “I’ve made a huge mistake” impression on your face. Don’t worry, it can happen to anyone. What you need to understand is that choosing your ideal swimwear is more complex than you think. Moreover, it’s similar to choosing sexy underwear for your special someone. Apart from being super-sexy and trendy, it needs to flatter your silhouette in the best possible way and to make you feel comfortable all the time.

When it comes to the sole choice of the design, the choice is really wide. For example, this season, neon is the hottest trend. Therefore, choosing a radiant neoprene neon bikini would be an amazing idea for you. You could also go for retro floral, polka dot and ethnic print, as well as sexy animal and graphic print.

Beach dress

We all have that flawless, lightweight beach dress that makes us feel both comfortable and incredibly sexy. If you don't, street style fashion bloggers have done their job and popularized most amazing summer dresses in every style. Thanks to them, it has become both easy and safe to buy fashionable light dresses online. This season, maxis are the thing and you should rock them in an effortless, yet stylish way. For example, you can pair your favourite floral or tribal maxi dress with some cute gladiators and bold accessories and voila- here is your flawless boho chic outfit!

Playsuit

Playsuits aren’t just for kids! When worn in a stylish way, they can be super-sexy and feminine. Most importantly, there are numerous possible ideas for you to wear them, all depending on your fashion sense and preferences. For achieving feminine, effortless boho chic beach look, you could simply rock a printed playsuit with casual, bold accessories and casual hairstyle. On the other hand, if you want to achieve the utmost sophistication and elegance for a casual beach party or coastal walk, you could simply rock a delicate, white playsuit with some cute colourful wedges and chic accessories and you are ready to go!

All in all, achieving flawless beach outfit isn’t that complicated at all. These are just some of numerous ideas we chose for you, and they will definitely help you achieve casual, yet sophisticated and chic look. Now, all you have to do is to accessorize properly and, believe us, you will have heads turning!

I hope you have enjoyed Peter's post today guys. If you wanna hear more from him, just let me know and we can work on it.

Hey guys,

How was your weekend? Halloween was at the weekend and I have to say, I had an absolute ball. If you checked my Instagram out, then you will know that I dressed up as a scary ass nun! Seriously, all of my friends were scared shitless ha-ha. I’m not one for skimpy outfits, I’m not slagging off anyone who wears them but they’re not my cup of tea, I would rather be scary. As you can imagine, I didn’t want to move on Sunday so I chilled out with Liam just watching movies and stuffing my face with all kind of bad treats. It was worth it though!

I was contacted by Scot Bloggers to write a post for them, obviously I was gonna talk beauty so i decided to discuss the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream. As you know, I bought this in a recent haul and I know a few of my readers really wanted a review so I thought I would write it up and post it over on their blog which you can find here.

I know this is a pricey purchase but as I got my student loan, I thought I would pick up a few bits that I wouldn’t normally buy but now that I have tried this, I’m afraid I will have to start saving each month to buy another when it runs out as it’s beautiful. I won’t ruin my review any further so head over to Scot Bloggers to find out what I had to say.
