Tom Ford Wet Violet

Hi guys,

Please, please, please take a moment to breath in this sexy little lady. Her colour, her style, her brush, her packaging. Simply stunning.

Now that we have all gotten over the beauty that is the Tom Ford Ultra Shine Lipgloss (£33) in Wet Violet, I will get into the review. Spoiler Alert! It’s fantastic.

I bought this a few weeks ago and almost fell off of my couch with excitement when the confirmation email came through. Obviously this came with a few looks from Liam but I didn’t care, I wanted Tom Ford and I wasn’t going to let a tiny thing like being skint put me off. Once it arrived, I stroked the tube like it was my pet which garnered even more looks from Liam. Thank God he is leaving for work soon so I can start using this and making all the oohing and aahing sounds I can without some seriously strange looks.

As you know, the darker months are all about dark lips whether it’s red, berry, purple, black and anything in between. I am no exception, I love rocking darker lips so when I saw this I knew I had to have it. I have a million and one dark lipsticks in my collection but I wanted another one. I also justified it because I don’t have dark glosses. Now for those who have read this blog since the beginning will know I’m not a huge fan of glosses but something about this sang to me.

This is the most beautiful product. The colour is sublime. Just one stroke of the brush and your lips have gone from drab to fab. It does have a slight shimmer to it when you look at it in the tube but once applied you don’t see it. The sheen that comes with this is out of this world. It is a tiny bit sticky but I am yet to find a gloss that isn’t. I love the brush that is used to apply as it is a real brush with bristles rather than a doe applicator. It helps to apply the gloss perfectly. The lasting power is also very good for a gloss. Obviously it does come off and won’t last as long as a matte product but it does stay put for a while which is great.

I tried the gloss on its own and the colour was gorgeous. After a few hours it faded into a beautiful pink stain on my lips which I loved. Obviously, as with any gloss you will have to reapply throughout the day.

My favourite way of wearing this is buy using a purple lip liner such as the Bourjois Clubbing Eyeliner (£4.99) in Purple Night, I know it’s an eyeliner but it’s a great colour for lips too and adds a great 3d effect. I then layer with Mac Rebel (£15) or Poisonberry by Limecrime (£12.50) and then layer this gloss on top for the darkest, juiciest lips you have ever seen. Be careful with your teeth though, make sure you do that finger thing where you pop your finger in and suck, get your head out the gutter ha-ha, you know what I mean though as you don’t want big purple teeth staring back at anyone.

All in all, a perfect gloss for Autumn/Winter. You need it in your life immediately.

Have you tried this yet?

What else should I buy from the Tom Ford range?

  2. I also wish Tom Ford wasn't so pricey. I've been wanting to buy his lipstick in pink dusk for ages, but haven't got the courage to splurge on it yet. X
