Hi
guys,
Sorry
I have been awol this month, I decided to take a step back from my blog as I
was so stressed with my exams mid-january and also work has been taking up a
lot of time whether it be in the office or working from home and I didn’t want
the extra work to be honest, cause let’s face it, running a blog takes a lot of
time. I hope you are having a great start to the year and haven’t broken any
resolutions yet. Mine was to cut back on the red wine and stop spending but as
you can see from the title of the blog post, I broke it, I also broke the red
wine resolution too as I was in desperate need of a drink after the exams
ha-ha. I`m not an alcoholic I promise but sometimes it’s the only thing that
will suffice.
As I said, I wanted to put a
bit of a spending ban on myself in January but I had some gift cards left over
from Christmas and also a little bit extra from my wages so I decided to do
what any normal person in my situation would do and spend it ha-ha. First
things first, this is only a snippet as I am still waiting on things to arrive
including another Becca Highlighter In Pearl ($38, I know, how many does
one person need!), Sanctuary Spa 5 Minute Peel Off Mask (£10), Quick Fix Facial Purifying Charcoal Mask (£4.99), Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Blush Palette (£35) and the UD Gwen Stefani Lipstick In Ex-Girlfriend (£16) but I wanted to get this up while I had a
spare 5 minutes and just to say hi to everyone.
So far, I have bought and
received the amazing Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Definer in Medium Brown (£16), as
soon as I heard this was a thing, I needed it. Like I actually needed it, my
brows were staring back at me in the mirror saying “c’mon mamma, get that brow
definer!” ok, maybe they weren’t but I really wanted it and I am so glad I got
it as it is amazing. I normally use the shade soft brown when it comes to my
Dipbrow Pomade (£15) but I wanted something a little darker just to define my brows. This is
great for outlining your brows and also creating “hairs” where there aren’t
any. A must have in my opinion.
I went a little crazy with
the highlighters this month, so far I have the Becca Highlighter in Opal &Champagne Pop (£32) as well as the Makeup Revolution Pro Illuminate (£4) but as I said
above, I am waiting on the Becca Highlighter in Pearl too. I know, I know, four highlighters
in a month but come on, they are so pretty! I knew the Becca highlighters would
be good but I was knocked on my arse when I tried the MR Pro Illuminate as it
is super pigmented. I was a little miffed about this purchase though as I
ordered from Makeup Revs website on the 3rd Jan and it only arrived today (28th Jan) I mean that is a long time to wait for anything in my opinion but they did pull it back by creating this gorgeous highlighter.
I just couldn’t resist the
Ardell Wispies (£7.97) as they are, in my opinion, the best lashes out there. These are
great for first time users as they have a thin band and are easy to manoeuvre,
plus I bought my sister some for her Christmas and then decided that I wanted
them too so picked up this lovely multipack from Amazon.
The Artis Oval 7 Makeup Brush (£45) was a massive splurge but my mum bought me some Space NK vouchers for
Christmas and I wanted to buy myself something that I normally wouldn’t have
the guts to and decided on this. I`m not sure how I feel about this brush to be
honest. The bristles are so soft, it literally feels like silk moving around
your face but I’m not overly impressed with the handle on this little guy. For 45 big ones, I want a sturdy grip when it comes to makeup brushes but this feels quite flimsy. I’ve already heard of them snapping and I’m sorry to say, but mines feels
like it’s going to go the same way. If the handle was better then I would probably recommend but as it stands at the moment, I
wouldn’t as it’s a hell of an amount of money to spend on something that
doesn’t feel superior to other brands.
Lush is a must have for me, if I dont buy something every month I go crazy so I picked up some of their Valentines Range but I`m not impressed by it to be perfectly honest, there wasnt a lot to choose from and not as many amazing products like they had last year. Firstly, my Lover Lamp bath bomb came through the post broken into 3 pieces and Unicorns Horn didn't smell the way it did last year. The only thing I was impressed with was Prince Charming Shower Cream (from £4.95) as it has the most amazing scent ever. I do have a review of this from last year but it was the shower gel, rather than the cream so click here to check that out but trust me, this is one thing you should buy as its simply amazing.
The
last thing I picked up was the Toly Moly I’m Real Mask in Red Wine (£6), see I broke
the red wine thing before I realised it ha-ha. This mask was glorious, I forgot
to take a proper picture of this but you can see it on my Instagram feed. This is specialised for pore issues and as mine were feeling a little clogged I decided to pop this on for 30 minutes and leave it to work its magic. This left my skin really soft and glowing but honestly done nothing for my pores.
As
I say, I am still waiting on a few other bits and bobs but overall I am happy
with my January beauty buys. I got some things I wouldn’t have bought myself
and some things that have impressed me. What about you, what have you bought
this month or have you been good and not bought anything?
So
there we have it, my January purchases so far. If you would like an in depth
review of any products please leave a comment below and I will get to work on
it as soon as possible.
