Happy
New Year Guys!
I hope you all had a fab night and aren't suffering too much today. I was a boring auld bastard and didn't do much other than get a drink with my mum and sister haha. I shouldn't complain too much, it was a good laugh. As
my first post this year I decided to review these beautiful Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks ($18
about £12) in the shades Unicorn Blood and Celebrity Skin. For a
few months now I have watched the American Youtubers go wild over these
lipsticks and as soon as I knew Beautylish stocked them and delivered to the
UK, I was all over it.
I
really wanted to try this line due to the outrageous amount of good reviews on
the internet and I wanted to try a deep burgundy shade as I was disappointed
with the Mac Heavy Petting lipstick
so I instantly gravitated towards this beautiful dark rusty red shade, Unicorn
Blood, and I also wanted a new nude so I picked up Celebrity Skin which is a
soft brown shade. The colour on each tube is very true to the finished look, I
hate when you buy a lipstick and it shows one colour but when it dries it
changes. WHY?! The colours in the above picture as worn by Jeffree Star
himself, are so true, this is how they look on my lips. The formula itself is impeccable,
they glide on perfectly, are highly pigmented, dry super quickly and have the
most amazing scent to them. I’m not too sure what it is exactly but I love it.
The
way I apply these lipsticks is by exfoliating my lips with a homemade sugar scrub or Lush Mint Julips (£5.50) to make sure
they are smooth. I normally leave on a lip butter such as Nivea Blueberry Blush (£2.25)
or Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Lip
Protectant (£20) while I apply the rest of my makeup to
keep my lips moisturised. Once I am ready to apply the lipstick, I gently
remove the lip butter and then line my lips. Remember this is a liquid so it
does have the tendency to go outside the natural lines of your lips, well it
does for me as I am in no way a professional when it comes to applying liquid
lips so I find this step really helps me. I then apply it by staying inside the
liner and wait for it to dry. Trust me when I say, this is not going anywhere.
Once it dries it aint budging.
I
wore Celebrity Skin throughout the day on NYE and switched it for Unicorn Blood
as I wanted a dramatic look for the evening and both lasted so well. I did notice
that UB started to dry out as the night went on and it also started to crumble
on my lips but I think thats because I applied more and more with every drink I
had as thats what I do when I get drunk haha. Throw on more lippie, swing my
hair about and pose like a maniac so maybe it was my own fault and not the
lipsticks. I was impressed with its staying power though as I fell asleep about
3am without removing my makeup (bad i know) and it was still there in the
morning. There have been a few reviews stating the lipsticks stain your lips
but i honestly never had an issue with this.
I
will definitely be adding more of these to my collection as they are superior
to any other lipstick I have tried in the past. I obviously love Mac lipsticks,
who doesn’t but these are the Holy Grail for me. I have only worn these for one
day and I am seriously in love guys. If you like a matte lip then they are for
you but be warned they can feel a little drying on the lips. Nowhere near as
bad (in my opinion) as the Limecrime Velvetines, Anastasia Beverly Hills or Kat
Von D ones but they are drying. After I remove my makeup I just apply a lot of
lip butter and that really helps.
A
huge plus side of this line is they are all vegan, paraben free, gluten free,
cruelty free and have some of the coolest name I have ever heard such as I’m
Royalty, Weirdo, Redrum, Anna Nicole and Dirty Money.
Do
you like Liquid Lipsticks?
Would
you try them out?
Have
you heard of Jeffree Star?
Unicorn Blood sounds amazing. I would love to try it! Think I may have to track it down :)

It is the perfect deep dark red shade. I love it so much :) Beautylish is where i bought mine and they offer free delivery over $35 spends but i think cocktail cosmetics do them as well xx
DeleteUnicorn blood is such a beautiful shade. I never justified these as I expected them to be super expensive, but I could so easily justify that price! :)
