My Summer Reads

My Summer Reads

Hi guys,

As you may or may not know, I am going to Greece in 3 days!!!!!! Whhaaaaaaa, I am so excited. I wanted to sort out some great books to take along with me but I didn’t want the normal beach reads as I get bored with them, so I decided to raid my book cupboard & find some great books to take away with me. I love reading and am a massive fan of crime/horror/biography so these are always the first genres I tend to gear towards. I also have over 3000 books on my kindle so no doubt I will be tearing into them as well. I have decided to read all of the Stephen King books from the beginning again as I adore him and his writing abilities, especially since the horrors scare the bejeezus out of me.

I read this book years ago and it’s always stayed with me. If anyone has read anything (Stardust anyone?) by the late Terry Pratchett then you will know he was a genius and this book is one of his greats. I think I will leave this for the plane journey, as I am a quick reader so I will probably get this finished.

I have heard great things about this and I have been dying to read for it ages. I haven’t read anything by Gillian, so I will be intrigued to see how this one pans out.

There isn’t a girl on this planet who was born in the 70s/80s that didn’t have a crush on Michael J Fox when he played the adorable Marty McFly in Back to The Future. I had a massive crush (recently reignited due to his performances in The Good Wife) and I have always felt quite sad about his early diagnosis with Parkinson’s so I wanted to give this a read to see how he has managed with this disease and to find out more about him to be honest. Plus, he has great comedic timing so it would be great if that came through in his book.

Something Borrowed (from £2.99) and Something Blue (from £2.99) by Emily Giffin
I watched Something Borrowed (from £5.19) with Kate Hudson, Ginnifer Goodwin and John Krasinski a few years ago and it quickly became one of my favourite movies, it has everything you could want, a good girl, a bitch, an affair (or 2), romance and a lot of humour so I thought I would give the book and its sequel a go to see how it faired with the movie.

As I am in the middle of this, I thought I would take it with me and finish it off. This is a trilogy about the supernatural, another genre that is right up my street. So far, it has been an amazing read! I am really intrigued to see where it goes (I hear there is going to be a movie soon!!)

I think that’s all I will take with me to be honest as we have a few days planned where we will be going to the Old Town in Corfu, long walks, food markets, and to see some of the amazing sights in Greece so I don’t want to miss out on all the fun by lying around sunbathing ha. As I say I have my kindle with me anyway so if I read all of these then I will probably start reading Stephen King or Anne Rice again as I love their books.

What’s in your Summer Reading List?
Are you going on holiday this year?

PS. I am going on holiday now so there won’t be any posts going out for 2 weeks I am afraid. I decided to take a well-earned break. Speak when I get back guys.

Kiss Cosmetics | Mini Lipstick

Kiss Cosmetics

Passionate Peach Lipstick

Kiss Cosmetics Lipstick Swatch

Hi guys,

By now you should have heard of Kiss Cosmetics as they are all over social media at the moment, but if you haven't, they are a new company who have made a name for themselves within the beauty world. Everyone and their Nan seem to be raving about their Kissticks (£7) as they have a wide range of colours, I’m not talking Mac level but there is a colour for everyone.

I got a hold of Passionate Peach (yellow based nude, perfect for warm undertones) which is the lightest colour within the range, truth be told, it was a little too light for my tastes and skin tone (just look at the swatch above) but it was a stunning colour none the less. The formula is something made of dreams; it is super creamy and very moisturising. It glides on perfectly to the point that it feels like butter, plus the smell is absolutely amazing! It reminds me of Mac Lipsticks but more fragrant. I wore this for about an hour before I had to top it back up again as I felt it had lost its vibrancy but it’s not supposed to be a matte finish so it obviously won’t last as long as a matte lipstick. All in all, a great lipstick for everyday wear and there is quite a lot of product for such a small item but I think I will be going back for some other colours that are more "me".

Have you heard of Kiss Cosmetics?
Would you buy a mini version to try it before committing to a full size version?

Keeping Fit with AG Fitness

AG Fitness

Hello guys

I thought I would give you a little fitness post today as I have been working my socks off at the gym and totally changed my food habits (find out how here) but when Andy from AG Fitness contacted me way back in July to offer me a free session for my birthday I jumped at the chance, well not literally as I had a broken foot back then, but I was so keen to have a personal training experience with him as so many people I speak with rave about him.

After my foot healed, I finally managed to agree on a date with Andy and took along my friend Sara to see what he was all about. Don’t be put off with what I am about to tell you, but Andy will push you as hard as he can as he wants you to see results and to get the best fitness experience possible. He has the most amazing knowledge of fitness and is well versed in nutrition too which is an added bonus. Most people stick to what they know in the gym and will be happy with the results they are seeing but as soon as you change your diet then you really start to notice a difference with not only your appearance but your health, skin and energy levels too.

When my friend Sara and I arrived, we were a little apprehensive as we didn’t know what to expect but as soon as we met Andy he put our minds at ease as he is so lovely. We both started off with a 5 minute warm up and then straight into deadlifts. This was easy until Andy started adding weights on ha-ha but as soon as I lifted 10kg, I found it easy to lift 20kg. We moved onto the usual squats (I wondered when the twist would appear) and then he added in the dreaded kettle bells *muscles are screaming*. After squats, we moved onto step ups with weights before being whisked upstairs to enjoy the battle ropes. I had seen a lot of videos on Andy`s Facebook and was keen to try them but man alive, they are harder than they look. Fun, but hard!

After our hour was up, I was drenched! I am not being dramatic; I was literally a walking puddle. I also almost fell down the stairs too ha, I would have loved that, waiting for my foot to heal to go try a PT session and then break it again! Anyway, I was fine but my muscles were not. I was aching all over the next day and I had promised my sister I would help erect a triple wardrobe, drawers and a dressing table as well as wallpaper her room!! What was I thinking? I truly felt like I had been given a great workout though and promised myself to attend another class with Andy as soon as I could. This will probably need to wait until I return from my holidays though as I leave on the 24th! All in all, this was not the normal slog at the gym, this was hard work made fun and I will be definitely back again.

Now, as I am a good blogger and Andy is a gentleman, we put together a little something for all of my lovely readers who live in the Glasgow/Surrounding areas. This is a code for 15% off your first time package purchase so just quote "animpatient15" when booking through website (click to see latest prices). Also, if you know you are going to be in Glasgow at a particular time and want to brush up on your fitness, arrange a PT session with Andy in advance.

I really hope you manage to book an hour with him as it will leave you wanting more, I promise you!

Beauty Trend | Multi Masking

Multi Masking

Hi guys,

If you are like me and have different skin types on different parts of your face then you want to focus specific products on those areas. There is no point in applying a mask for oily skin to your dry patches is there? I have been doing this for a couple of years but it’s only recently that I have seen more people discussing it through social media and blogs so I thought I would let you all know my favourite combos.

Nip and Fab Dragon Blood

Nip & Fab Dragons Blood Mask and Lush Cupcake

I did run out of Cupcake, so I need to pick up a new one. This is highly absorbent, it works well at removing excess sebum, dirt and any impurities whereas the Dragon’s Blood adds intense moisture back into the skin. I apply cupcake all through my tzone area and really focus on my nasal and chin area as these are the parts of my face that have the most breakouts. Once this is sitting where I want it, I go in with my dragons blood mask and apply to my cheek, temples and outer parts of my face. I always find my cheeks and top of my forehead gets dry all the time so this mask is perfect at adding hydration back into the skin. I leave these on for a good 20 minutes before removing. My skin always feels amazing after using the together.

Lush Face Masks

Mask of Magnaminty and The Sacred Truth

Magnaminty will always be one of my favourite masks as it works so well at treating my skin and it smells pretty damn good too! I use this in my tzone area to decongest it and Sacred Truth (£6.50) on cheeks, outer shell of my face and temples. As with the first combo, I leave this on for 20 minutes before removing. My oily areas are always 100% better when I use MoM as it goes straight to work; the seeds in it remove dead skin and leave my skin glowing.

Una Brennan and Sanctuary Spa

Sanctuary Spa 5 Minute Thermal Detox Mask and Una Brennan Rose Intense Moisture Mask
SS Thermal Detox Mask is a bit of a cult product. Ever since Lily Pebbles rated it, the whole beauty blogging world seemed to have it in their skincare stash, I was no exception. This is great for anyone who only has a couple of minutes but if you can use it as a combo and leave it on for a full 20 minutes it would be a lot better. The detox mask goes straight on my tzone area but I mostly focus this on my chin area as it’s the most problematic. The Una Brennan Mask is made of dreams I tell you, this mask is super creamy and as soon as I put it on my face I can already feel it working! Again, I leave these on for 20 minutes before removing.

These are my favourite combos. I have repurchased these masks over and over again and have been multi masking with them for a while now. If you have different skin types, please try this out to see a huge improvement with your skin.

Skinny Coffee Club | 14 Day Body Transformation

Skinny Coffee Club | 14 Day Body Transformation

Skinny Coffee Club

14 Day Body Transformation

Hi guys,

If you have been following me on Instagram then you would have probably seen my posts regarding Skinny Coffee Club. If not, whats the hold up? Get over there and have a gander haha. Anyway, I was kindly sent the 14 Day Body Transformation Coffee* (£19.99) for review and I have no problem telling you, after my Slendertoxtea experience I was a little apprehensive about this. I had flash backs to unbelievable cramping and living in my toilet for 2 weeks :( but this was, thankfully, different.

Skinny Coffee Club has created a coffee blend to aid weight loss and detoxification; it is also gluten free so anyone who is intolerant can have a go too. The coffee itself is a green powder which has a definite coffee aroma, it’s not strong but it’s recognisable. What I liked about this detox was the fact that it came with an eating and exercise plan which helps you choose healthier options for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I didn’t stick to the plans to be honest as I dont like following a guide, I like to do my own thing and I also like to do my own exercises. I hate sticking to a plan as I might not feel like going a swim in the pissing rain, I might choose to go to the gym instead so do your own thing but follow the guidelines.

I drank this first thing in the morning as it does contain caffeine (so maybe not good for people with anxiety). I added one teaspoon of the coffee mix into a stove top coffee maker (you can use a French Press too) and left to infuse for 5 minutes. You don’t want to add the coffee mixture straight into a cup and add boiled water, even though this is a finely milled powder, there are small lumps within the powder and it makes it quite undrinkable. Once the coffee was brewed, I added some maple syrup to sweeten it up as I don’t like coffee straight up, I need some sweetness in my life but as long as it’s a healthier alternative to sugar then you will be all good! You can also add milk but try and stick to non-dairy milks such as coconut, almond and hazelnut if you can. The taste of the coffee is quite subtle, well for my palette anyway, I love my coffee strong but I know a lot of people don't so this might be perfect for you.

It seems I had nothing to worry about, with regards to it being the same as Slendertoxtea as there was no cramping, no side effects, no pain and certainly no turning myself inside out in the bathroom! Phew! I loved using this and would go as far as saying that I would replace my morning coffee with this. It gave me added energy, obviously due to the caffeine but I liked the taste of it and I liked the lack of bloating I felt every day. If I had any criticism, then it would be that it wasn't strong enough for my tastebuds but you can't please everyone can you?

I didn’t notice a huge amount of weight loss to be honest, but my stomach was a lot flatter and the bloating I normally feel was gone. As I said, I would add this into my daily routine in place of my normal drink. If you want to beat the bloat and have a nice flat tummy for a holiday then I would seriously suggest picking up the 14 Body Transformation (£19.99) pack to help. Skinny Coffee Club offer free shipping worldwide with parcels being delivered between 1-7 days. As always, even though I was sent this for review, my opinion is 100% honest. Please see full disclaimer here.
