Nars Cosmetics | Wish List

Nars Cosmetics

Hi guys,

I hope you are all having a great weekend. I have been so busy studying this week (as per usual) and also helping my mum change her living room colours from red to a gorgeous blue and cream which just looks so fresh and spring appropriate (I know it’s still Winter). We decided to go out and buy wallpaper which slowly turned into a buying frenzy and now she has a brand new decorated living room which my sisters, mum and I done without the help of any men. Big up Girl Power! The wallpaper stayed put, the paint didn’t go everywhere and I even managed to spray all the black frames a gorgeous silver shade. When Liam and my sister boyfriend came into it, they were both shocked and impressed. Always a good sign when men are impressed.

I have always loved Nars products and used to loiter around the makeup counter in House of Fraser in my hairdressing day but I never purchased more than the cult favourite Turkish Delight Lip Gloss (£19) or the Laguna Bronzer (£27) but I have decided 2015, ten years after my loitering days, that I will pick up a few products.

Everyone raves about the blushers so I want to try Super Orgasm (£22.50), which is a peachy pink shade with gold glitter running through it, I think this would suit my fair complexion really well to add a nice glow to the apples of my cheeks.  I also want to try some of their foundations including Sheer Glow (£31) and All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation (£32). Obviously I need to be colour matched as I have no idea what shade I would be.

Everyone has been praising the Audacious Lipsticks (£24) recently so I know I need one or three in my collection immediately. They have over 40 shades to choose from but four have stood out to which are  Greta (wild azalea), Fanny (rich berry), Brigitte (nude rose) and Rita (scarlett red). These lipsticks are supposed to be full coverage, creamy and long lasting so sign me up! Another lip product I have been eyeing up is the Satin Lip Pencils (£18) and after checking out all of the 20 shades I picked 2 that I instantly fell in love with, the first is Yu (shocking pink) and the other is Biscayne Park (pink guava). These are super pigmented and long lasting which can be used as a lip liner and also a full lip colour to give the most amazing high impact intense shade.

The Radiant Creamy Concealer (£22) is a massive talking point amongst us beauty bloggers and I have no idea why I haven’t tried this before but I am ready to jump aboard and get my hands on one. They come in 10 different shades so there should be something for everyone within this range.

My final wish list item is the Dual Intensity Eyeshadows (£21) in shades Desdemona (rich shimmering burgundy) and Himalia (shimmering topaz) they have 12 different shades to suit everyone’s colour preference. I have swatched them before at a Nars counter stand and let me tell you, they were impressive! These can be used dry or wet for a more intense look so I am excited to finally pick up one sometime this year.

Have you tried any of these products?

Mini Beauty Haul

Beauty Haul

Hello guys,

I decided to treat myself to a few goodies from Boots yesterday as I had some vouchers left over from Christmas. I didn’t go crazy, pretty much just picked up a few essentials.

Indeed Laboratories Hydraluron Moisture Boosting Masks

The first things I bought was the Indeed Laboratories Hydraluron Moisture Boosting Masks (£19.99) they were on offer and as I haven’t tried many sheet masks before I knew I had to have them. I also picked up son Bio Oil as I want to try and get rid of some stretch marks on my stomach but I want to try it out on the scars on my chin from past blemishes. I ran out of my Alpha H Liquid Gold and thought this might help me out without spending money I don’t have at the moment.

Bio Oil

I have been watching the Yes to range expand in Boots and I have been intrigued by the bright packaging so I thought I would start off with a face wash before I delve straight in and purchase more. I don’t really know why I picked up the Yes to Carrots Face Wash (£6.99) as it’s for Normal/Dry skin but I will see how I get on. A little niggle for me is the fact that is says its fragrance free but it has a definite smell to it.

Nivea Lip Butter

After picking up some new products I realised I needed some refills of some of my most loved items including the Maybelline Falsies Volume Express Mascara (£7,99), my all-time love Radox Herbal Bath Salts (£1.05), Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation in Vanilla (£9.99) and in my opinion, the best lip butter I have ever used the Nivea Lip Butter in Blueberry Blush (£2.25).

Elizabeth Is Missing

I then decided to buy a new book from Sainsbury’s as I had finished Angel of The Dark (from 99p) so when I saw Elizabeth Is Missing (from £3.32) was on sale, I picked it up instantly. I have been keen to read this book for the longest time as it has amazing reviews and seems like such a great story.

Caudalie Multi Purpose Divine Oil

Caudalie Divine Oil

Caudalie Divine Oil

Hey guys

How are we all settling into our first week back at work/university/school? The first full week back is always tough isn’t it? I cant really complain too much as I am finished after today ha-ha, I shouldn’t laugh though because I have a mountain of work to get on with. So I am going to dive straight in and talk about the Caudalie Divine Oil (from £17.50) which has been somewhat of a skin saviour for me throughout these wet and cold months.

I received a corker of a sample in my Look Fantastic Beauty Box a few months ago and I have to say it took me a few weeks to actually try the oil as I was worried that the oil may cause horrendous spots or may make my oily skin even worse. I finally plucked up the courage to incorporate it into my evening skincare routine at the end of October and I’m glad I did. This is a luxurious dry oil which can be used for just about anything including your body, nails, hair and bath. It contains grape, hibiscus, sesame and argan oil as well as a skin repairing antioxidant called polyphenols (yeah me neither). The formula itself is quite light which absorbs into the skin quickly leaving it glowing and nourished. It also smells beautiful.

A little goes a long way with this oil so please don't pour a lot onto your hand and layer onto your face as you will end up looking like Kim K on a provocative photo shoot and trust me guys, that is not a good look for us mere mortals on an everyday basis. I did that the first time I used it and I looked horrific but I finally figured out the right amount to use and it looked fab.

I have been using this every night over my moisturiser to add another layer. I pat into my skin rather than rub it as I want it to penetrate into my skin naturally without being forced and clogging my pores. I also use it during the day if I want to have a makeup free day.

After using this for a while now I feel I can make a judgement and I can hand on heart say it is the best thing I have used on my skin. I have oily skin, and as I said before, I was a little worried it would make it worse but it hasn’t, infact my skin has drank it up and never looked better. I feel this would be a dream for dry skin too as my dry patched have died down a little on my cheeks. It dries quickly, when a small amount has been applied and leaves my face with a gorgeous glow. As you know, I have been using my Magnitone which gives me a really good deep clean and when I apply my skincare products finished off with this oil, my skin feels like heaven.

Have you tried face oils?
What other oils would you recommend?

Giorgio Armani | Luminous Silk Foundation

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk

Hello guys,

I forever rave about the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation (£35.50) but I have never written a review. That’s all about to change as of today. That’s right, you’re getting my thoughts on what can only be described as the best high end foundation I have ever had the pleasure of using. I included this in my 2014 Favourites with good reason. To think I have the audacity to call myself a beauty blogger!

I have been buying this in the shade 02 Ivory which is a tad too light but once I bronze up my skin it looks excellent. The formula is lightweight and pretty runny (see below swatch) which makes it pretty easy to move about your face. I don’t really like thick foundations as I feel like they pull at my skin and this doesn’t do that. It is a medium coverage which can be built up and it covers my scars, dark circles and blemishes just fine. I still have to use a concealer to make sure my base is immaculate but in all honesty, if I only put concealer on my dark circles, my base would still look perfect.

This foundation is really easy to work with, it moves easily and once it’s on, it’s staying on. I apply by cleansing my face and applying all my skincare products before covering my face with the Laura Mercier Oil Free Foundation Primer (£29). I really work this into my skin so I know my foundation won’t slip about throughout the day. I then pop two pumps of the foundation on the back of my hand and blend with my Real Techniques Buffing Brush (£20.99 part of the Core Collection). I take my time to blend this into my skin so it looks perfect. Once I apply my concealer, I set everything with the Rimmel Stay Matte (£3.99), apply the rest of my makeup and then set it all in place with my trusty Urban Decay De-Slick Oil Free Setting Spray (£20). I find this is the best method for my combination skin but even on days where I forget to prime and use a setting spray, it still lasts very well.

When I wear this, I get so many compliments on my skin looking clear and healthy. Something I love ha-ha. I don’t have bad skin anyway, apart from the occasional hormonal acne attack along my jawline or blemish on my chin but more often than not, it’s just little scars that I complain about.

Have you tried this foundation?
What were your thoughts on it?

What other high end foundations should I be trying out?

Fitness | The Jantastic Challenge

Jantastic

Hi guys,

Happy New Year! This is my first post so I hope you all had an amazing New Year and I wish you all the absolute best in 2015.

I was going to have a quiet night in with a nice bottle of red wine and the normal New Year’s TV but my mum knocked off work early, came and picked me up and then my mum, sister and I brought in the bells together. It was a lovely night in the end, I didn’t drink a lot and I woke up hangover free so I decided to write this post. Since its January and the gym memberships will be in full swing as of today, I thought I would begin the year as I mean to go on and talk health and fitness.

I found out about Jantastic through twitter and it sounded like such a good idea so I signed up and look forward to it starting on the 5th January. As you know, I have been gymming it up six times a week since August but had to stop due to an injured knee. Now I am back to full health and I am ready to kick this challenges arse.

The aim of the game is to get you started, keep you going and improve your health, fitness and performance. You start off by creating goals for yourself and carry out 30 minutes of either walking/jogging/running, cycling or swimming however many times a week suits you. You also have the opportunity to join groups to keep you motivated. I think this is such a good idea as it spurs you on when you see everyone else’s results. I didn’t think I was competitive but I like to try and better myself and I think this is the best way to keep track of your progress.

My personal goal is to continue with my six days per week where I will carry out 3 different activities per week. I love swimming and cycling but I really need to try running as it is a great workout for the whole body. I may try walking first though as I don’t want to injure my knee again.

You can sign up here if you think this is something you want to do. If you like a challenge and need some motivation, then this is for you. I have created a group called Bloggers Get Fit if you want to join me.
